Keynote Lectures (KYL)

A special feature of highlighted presentations offers added value to the technical program. Lectures are dedicated to topics of fundamental interest for scientists and engineers in surface engineering. Presentations are individual and not “classic“ day-to-day R&D business. Discussion of new developments and trends of relevance to ICMCTF, both in materials science and in methodology, in a pioneering state, with long-term impact. Selected critical reviews in a field of relevance to ICMCTF. Recognition of colleagues with pioneering and lasting impact on ICMCTF.

Prof. Satishchandra Ogale is the Director, of the Research Institute for Sustainable Energy (RISE), (TCG-CREST), Kolkata, and also an Adjunct Professor at IISER, Pune. He has over 530 research publications and Nine granted US patents based on research done in India. He has co-edited books for Springer, Wiley, and Elsevier. His Google Scholar h-Index is 88 with 37600 citations. He is on the Editorial Advisory Boards of Energy and Environmental Science, ACS Applied Materials and Interfaces, Sustainable Energy & Fuels, J. Phys. Energy (IOP) and Progress in Energy (IOP). He has won several national recognitions in India including the INSA Young Scientist Medal, the B. M. Birla Prize, the Sir C. V. Raman Prize, the MRSI Medal, the MRSI Silver Jubilee medal, the Ramanujan Fellowship, Raja Ramanna Fellowship, etc. He is an elected fellow of the Indian Academy of Science and the National Academy of Sciences. With him as Indian Team Leader the UK-India SUNRISE program won the “Times Higher Education (THE)” Best International Collaboration award. He was also one of the leads of the UK-India APEX program which won the Newton Prize from amongst 150 international team entries. More recently he was also awarded the Prof. CNR Rao Lecture prize by MRSI and the IESA’s National Award for Energy Storage Research. He has worked with several industries, notably with KPIT and LivGuard in the field of Na-ion and Li-ion Batteries.
